I was wondering if anyone has come up with a way of finishing (routing and sanding) solid surface sink bowls proficiently. I use a series of three bits to cut the sinks out and round them over, but it seems like I am spending way too much time getting the lip/step between the countertop surface and the sink bowl sanded out. Is there a better bit that can cut closer so sanding is minimal? |

Reply with quote | #2 | Yes -here's our process in our own fabrication shop.....
Use a Sink Trim Bit to cut out the hole (Bit # 49 on attached sheet).
Mount the bowl and then use the appropriate bowl bit - For instance, #43 for a Corian Kitchen Bowl.....or #57 for LG Bowls.
For sanding, we suggest using a Dynabrade 3.5" Air Random Orbital Sander (also available from Pinske Edge) - it's perfect for sanding sinks AND coved backsplashes.
Feel free to call with any other questions. Thanks for your inquiry!

You mentioned the Dynabrade random orbit sander for sanding sinks and cove splashes; do you use the 3/8" orbit or something smaller? |
